About Lesäl Ceramics

Close to the Pacific Ocean, in Southern California, ceramic artist Lisa Van Nortwick has created a studio-showroom in a 40 year old barn in the country where she grew up. In this serene setting, every piece of Lesal Signature Ceramics is created from start to finish, entirely by hand.

Fashioned from the highest quality of white or terra cotta earthenware, each exquisite hand-painted item is either hand-cast using many original forms or hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel. Hand-sculpted flowers or fruit are sometimes added, resulting in a truly unique three-dimensional work of art. And every piece is signed with the identifying “Lesal” name, assuring it is one-of-a-kind.

All motifs and themes are from Lisa’s life experiences; the barnyard scenes and farm animals are reminiscent of her barnyard studio. Other designs show influences of her years in France and Italy; studying painting in Provence, working with textiles at the Paris American Academy, and exploring the use of textures combined with paint in Florence. Her talent has led to the creation of an enchanting collection of bowls, platters, vases, serving dishes, pots and planters in a variety of shapes and sizes.

All Lesal Ceramics are food-safe and can be used in the microwave. It is recommended that they be washed by hand.

Lisa is the recipient of numerous awards, and is active in many philanthropic activities. She hopes you will enjoy your selection of Lesal Ceramics and that you will take pleasure from both displaying and using your hand-crafted piece.
